Survey questionnaire „Circular economy for eco-innovation and sustainable development of regions”

Within CE4reg project  in April-June 2017 was conducted a survey among the adult inhabitants of the Małopolska Region. The purpose of the analysis was to identify attitudes and behaviour regarding circular economy and sustainable development in the region. The authors hypothesise were that different groups of respondents, depending on their gender, age, education, place of living, would  have different values ​​and attitudes towards circular economy issues.

The subject of the research was voluntary feedback by randomly group of respondents. Research has shown that there are barriers to regional co-operation and the implementation of circular economy assumptions, including social responsibility. The results of the research enabled the recognition of environmental issues awareness of the Małopolska region’s inhabitants and allowed to identify barriers and challenges for Małopolska sustainable regional development in relation to individual choices.

The purpose of the study was to identify attitudes, behaviours and environmental awareness about the implementation of circular economy concepts and principles towards eco-innovation and sustainable development of the region.

As a method of empirical research was chosen a survey questionnaire, which  was created in electronic version and available under link: profitest.pl/s/9385/eHdeAUIl4R0OpHQ. For the selection of the research sample, two forms of selection were used:

  • Simple random selection – in which the required number of elements of the sample is drawn directly from the population. The sample selected is highly representative.
  • Volunteer selection – the survey was placed on the internet with respondents responding to it.

The survey questionnaire contained closed single choice questions and multiple choice questions. In addition, it was decided to apply a research method based on the „Likert Scale,” which is a five-level scale of assessment, thanks to which it was possible to get answers about the degree of acceptance of circular economy the phenomenon and the attitude. In order to fully analyze the surveyed social group, the respondents were asked to enter a place of residence in the survey questionnaire.

The survey was attended by 430 inhabitants of the Małopolskie region.
