III European Local Authorities Congress in Krakow

27th-28th of March, 2017 dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part at the III European Local Authorities Congress in Krakow. The Congress was organized Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, supported and co-financed by Minister of Economic Development and Finance of the Republic of Poland. There were discussed inter alia cohesion policy of the EU and perspectives of its changes, current issues local and regional development, smart and green cities development perspectives. One of the Congress’ discussion panel  was devoted to circular economy issues. Among speakers were representatives of public, private and NGO’s sectors from Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Russia. They discussed circular economy model and opportunities which it should provide for the consumers and producers at the European level.  It is expected  that the model will bring with more sustainable and innovative products that enable cost savings and improve the quality of life. The other  discussion issues highlighted effectiveness of implementation an ambitious EU circular economy plan and challenges facing waste management system in Poland and other EU countries.

 

So, we I glad that circular economy became so important topic for local and regional authorities and we do hope our research help more effective and fast transition to new model of sustainable development at the EU level.
