3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “SMART AND SUSTAINABLE PLANNING FOR CITIES AND REGIONS – SSPCR 2019”

9-13 December, 2019

 

Principal Investigator of the CE4REG project dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part at the conference on smart and sustainable planning for cities and regions in Bolzano, Italy.

The conference was organized by Eurac Research – Institute for Renewable Energy – Research group for Urban and Regional Energy Systems. The contribution from different research fields was done: urban and regional planning, environmental and social sciences, economics, transportation, engineering and energy-related studies, computer science and geomantic as well as from the professional community.

During the conference also were held workshops and technical visits within SINFONIA project related to sustainable buildings. The conference also has very exiting veniu – NOI Techpark which was open 2 years ago as a result of revitalization of post-industrial areas after aluminium production in Bolzano.

Dr Anna Avdiushchenko presented research results within Polonez project related to circular economy in Poland, its achievements and perspectives during last three years.

Dr Anna Avdiushchenko at the Open Eyes Economy Summit 2

 On 19th and 20th of November, 2019 principal investigator of CE4REG project, dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part in the international conference  Open Eyes Economy Summit (OEES) in International Conference Center – ICE Kraków.

 

The International Congress of the Economy of Values, the OEES, where discussed various thematic from rural areas to cities. The OEES is a melting pot of new ideas, a fusion of various horizons and a modern agora. It gathers and confronts the views of recognised politicians and social activists, scientists and students, journalists and artists. It is also a top opportunity to get to know the most important and the hottest trends in contemporary social and economic thought.

One of the panel discussion was devoted to barriers of circular economy implementing in Poland.

THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR ECOLOGICAL MODELLING GLOBAL CONFERENCE 2019

01-05 October 2019 dr Paweł Zając participated in ISEM2019 Conference in Salzburg (Austria) with poster titled “The impact of converting waste into resources on the regional economy, evidence from the south of Poland”.

Under the theme eco:model:spaces, conference brought together scientists from all professions and applications that deal with the use of ecological models and systems ecology.

Everything that happens, happens somewhere. The conference was organized by Elsevier in Salzburg. Salzburg is the inspiring space for the Ecological Modelling community to meet, discuss and share ideas.

CIRCULAR CHANGE CONFERENCE IN SLOVENIA

11-10 May 2018dr Anna Avdiushchenko visiting Ljubljana, Maribor and Konstanjevica na Krki in Slovenia for taking part at the third Circular Change Conference

The conference was held in a form of two-day interactive stream of indoor and outdoor events. All participant get inspired by real circular stories of the most visionary personalities, the real driving forces of the circular transformation all over the Europe. The special focus of the conference was paid to creative circular projects, bio-economy and national circular economy roadmaps.

The conference was organized by Circular Change Foundation, leading organization on circular economy implementation in Slovenia. Among co-organizer were Ministry of Environment and Special Planning in Slovenia, European Parliament, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Slovenia, Municipality of Marribor.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNGEST INHABITANTS OF KRAKÓW

12 May 2018 circular economy workshops were held during event devoted opening new University Campus at  Debniki District of Kraków.

Dr Anna Avdiushchenko and Dominika Wałaszek prepare interactive workshops devoted circular waste management of municipal waste for youngest inhabitants of Krakow. The workshops were organized due to cooperation with Jagiellonian University in Krakow which celebrated finalisation of 20-years investment programme for its 3rdCampus situated at Debniki District of Krakow. A lot of families with children participated at the event and during one day more then 100 children were learned about appropriate municipal segregation and positive environmental effect of eco-friendly behaviour. There was a third event organized within CE4REG project popularizing research project for wider society.

NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE TRAINING PROGRAMM FOR POLONEZ RESEARCH FELLOWS

In march 2018 started intensive Training Programm for Polonez Research Fellows conducted by British Company Vitae in Warsaw

Dr Anna Avdiushchenko has already taken part at the firs two trainings devoted to personal effectiveness and working with other within doing research. Three more training are planned in order to develop Polonez Research Fellows skills in research project management, IP management and communication research results for various target groups. The training programmes is a great opportunity for networking with other researchers, sharing and exchange experience in conducting research in Polish Universities or Research Institutes.

CONGRESS OF THE POLISH GEOGRAPHY IN WARSAW

12-14 April 2018 in Warsaw University was held interdisciplinary conference devoted to challenges and opportunities for developing geography and regional studies.

Dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part at the conference and present results of the research within CE4REG project at the social and economic geography panel. The research presented were devoted to changes and opportunities of implementation CE model in Malopolska Region. At the conference also were discussed issues related to regional development problems and main trends of development where circular economy was mentioned as one of the mainstreams.

Annual Conference and the General Assembly of the Maria Curie Alumni Association

2-4, February 2018 dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part at the Annual Conference and the General Assembly of the Maria Curie Alumni Association (https: //www.mariecuriealumni.eu/). This year’s edition of the conference was organized by MCAA at the KU Leuven in Belgium.

Within the  Conference were organized meetings and discussion on: open science; communication in science;  possibilities of doing research in cooperation with industrial sector; career development opportunities for researchers at various stages of their careers; maintaining work-life balance; tools for maintaining the mental health of young researchers.

Within the General Assembly of the MCAA were organized elections of the Association’s board for 2018-2019. Also there were organized  meetings of Working  Groups. Dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part in the meeting of the Career Development Working Group.

7th INTERNATIONAL WASTE MANAGEMENT FORUM SOSEXPO 2018 IN WARSAW

February 1, 2018, dr Anna Avdiushchenko took part in the 7th International Waste Management Forum SOSEXPO 2018. For several years, the SOSEXPO Forum has been one of the most important events in the waste management industry in Poland.

This year’s edition of the SOSEXPO Forum consisted of:

  • A conference divided into two main panel sessions: „The EU Package for Circular Economy – what are its goals and what does it mean for Poland?” and „Innovation: mechanisms, examples, risks”.
  • Training workshops on the implementation of new rules for the selective collection of municipal waste and achieving ecological goals by 31.12.2020 and the standards of secondary raw materials expected by packaging waste processing plants.
  • Exhibitions at which interesting, innovative and modern solutions and products of the waste management industry were presented.

The forum was organized by the Board of the Warsaw Fair. The event was attended by representatives of government and self-government administration, industrial and business environments, public institutions, research institutes, as well as waste management facilities.

OEES Open Eyes Economy Summit

On 15th and 16th of November, research team: prof. Joanna Kulczycka, dr Anna Avdiushchenko and dr Marzena Smol took part in the international conference  “OEES Open Eyes Economy Summit” in International Conference Center – ICE Kraków.

 

Open Eyes Economy Summit Programme has been divided into 5 thematic blocks:

  • Firm – Idea. Presented here will be a new approach to values in economy – the future of company management and the philosophy of society-business relationships.
  • Brand – Culture. In this field, the world of culture will come to grips with the world of modern marketing. The discussion will focus on abandoning cynicism and manipulation for the sake of building relations and consumer trust.
  • City – Idea. From this perspective, the Summit participants will jointly analyse the new approach to the development of cities and the ways they are managed.
  • Man – Work. The discussion will concentrate on the future and current challenges altering the labour market.
  • International order – The participants will talk about the most important challenges facing the modern states and international organisations.

On 15th of November prof. Joanna Kulczycka was a moderator Kraków Special Session “Urban economy with a closed circuit – Kraków’s example”.

 

Open Eyes Economy was accompanied by cultural events – performances, concerts and exhibitions.
